Welcome to Anderson Industries

Engineering

The Engineering Division of the Anderson Group of Companies is located at the Mackay facility of Anderson Industries, and currently employs five trade qualified Fitter and Turners/ Machinists and two Apprentices. With a combined experience level of over 95 years, various tasks are performed in the manufacture and reclamation of components used within the coal industry, including both open cut and underground mining.

THE ENGINEERING DIVISION CURRENTLY MANUFACTURES:

  • MR series alternator casings and all associated drive configurations for the Wollongong based Mining Repairs facility.
  • Duo-cone seal modification to PJB, Driftrunner/ Clark-Hurth front and rear differentials.
  • Various components to compliment, Eimco’s 130 and 913 series, Driftrunner, PJB, Wright, and MPV’s.
  • Components to suit Anderson’s re-powered 913-6, ballast trailer roller and shaft. components, Q.D. bolters, slew rings and components.
  • Drive shafts for Thiess-Nacap joint venture gas pipeline trenching machines

RECLAMATION OF COMPONENTS INCLUDES:

  • Code “D” machining on Flamepaths, including scrubbers, manifolds/pipes and engines.
  • Sleeving transmission and diff flanges on all machines.
  • Steer case tapers on both PJB and Clark components.
  • ZF Diffs.
  • Articulation and pivot bores on all machinery serviced by The Anderson Group of Companies.
  • Re-rods and re-barrels on hydraulic cylinders.
  • Piccola and Reed pumps.

MACHINING CAPABILITIES INCLUDE:

Chin-Hung Centre Lathe

560mm diameter over bed , 320mm over carriage ,2300mm max length, 400mm independent 4 jaw chuck, 400mm self-centering 3 jaw chuck, 500mm face plate, small and large steadies, imperial and metric threading, ideally suited for medium shaft and general jobbing/chuck work.

Victor Centre Lathe

400mm diameter over bed, 150mm over carriage, 1000mm max length, 300mm independent 4 jaw chuck, 250 mm self centering 3 jaw chuck,400mm face plate, imperial and metric threading used for small shaft and component work.

Hitachi-Seiki CNC Lathe

200mm max diameter, 310mm max length, 12 tool carousel which includes 6 external and 6 internal turning tools controlled by a FS-10TE.
Used continually for the manufacture of MR series alternator casings and associated drive components, production batch runs to supply warehouse with components for all machines serviced and re-powered by the Anderson Group of Companies.

Crowthorn Centre Lathe

650mm diameter over bed, 450mm over carriage, 1000mm in 230mm wide gap, max 6000mm long, fitted with a Reeves variable speed reduction box to allow for rotary welding of shafts and similar style components including refurbishment of pump shafts and casings.

Elsa Portable Lineborer

Linebores 40mm up to 150mm diameter, max 2500mm apart in one setup. This has an inbuilt welding conversion which allows for pre-machining, welding, and final machining in the one set up. Used in the repair of front / rear frames, articulation, steering, bolster bores, grader turntables and ripper assemblies.

Repco Tunnel Borer

Linebores small units from 25mm up to 80mm, with a maximum centre height of 350mm with bores up to1300mm apart. This unit is typically used in smaller applications where the Elsa Llineborer is not economical to set up, or for jobs that cannot be welded to i.e. galvanized beams.

Argo Milling Machine

A 3 axis milling machine including slide travels of 850mm longtitudinal, 300mm cross, 500mm knee complete with 100mm Quill travel multi angle head and Digital Read Out for high speed accuracy when positioning holes/ bores etc. Rotary tables and dividing heads compliment this miller, as does modular tooling to allow for repetitive processes.

Used frequently in the manufacture of MR alternator casings to thread tolerance of H5.

Butler Elga Mill

Directional travels of 1800mm longitudinal, 1000mm vertical, and 900mm over arm which is complimented by a 500mm rotary table and large dividing head. The Elga Mill has a Huron style head that enables any required compound angle to be achieved. It also has a large range of tooling to compliment this machine. Fitted with a 3 axis digital readout.

It is used to perform code “D” machining on all components associated with this standard, as well as being able to cut large keyseats at any nominated degree, and is robust enough for rapid metal removal with milling cutters.

TOS Overarm Miller

Knee travel of 400mm height, cross slide 200mm, and longitudinal travel of 750mm. The TOS Miller is ideally suited for gang milling and spline cutting.

PRESS

10 tonne pressing capabilities used in broaching keyways up to 14mm and press fitting of transmission / diff flanges.

Welders

3 phase 320 amp mig / 240v 270amp mig / 3 phase 275 amp ac/dc stick welder.

Overhead Crane

5 tonne overhead crane services this division, allowing for components to be unloaded straight onto the machines.

CAD / Draughting

Auto CAD is featured in the Engineering Division, enabling the creation of drawings for customer jobs which capture any change of details at the customer’s request. It is also used in conjunction with the Hitachi- Seiki CNC Lathe. The software package provides the ability to write programmes in order to manufacture items to required specifications.
